OpenSignal uses real-world, on-device measurements collected from our apps to offer operators a suite of analytics solutions that provide competitive intelligence and identify revenue enhancement opportunities.
Our data provides increased transparency in the wireless industry by publishing reports on the quality of mobile networks worldwide. We offer independent brand endorsement based on our OpenSignal Awards, which are announced in every report.
OpenSignal data is anonymously collected from consumer smartphones.
Our crowdsourced data is representative of conditions of normal usage from all the places that people go and use their devices, both indoors and outdoors.
The vast majority of our measurements are recorded automatically in the background, without any user interaction with our apps. This allows analysis to be based on a widely representative and unbiased data set.
OpenSignal conducts end-to-end tests to the same server locations that users connect to on a daily basis when using their mobile data and internet services (e.g. Google, Amazon, etc). This means that our measurements for speed and latency closely reflect a user’s typical everyday experience.
OpenSignal’s objective is to report as accurately as possible the typical, real-world mobile experience as recorded by our users.
We strongly believe that:
The only thing that matters when assessing network performance is how it is experienced by subscribers themselves. This is best understood by capturing the real world experience of users as they interact with the network in the places where they actually live, work and travel.
By making this information transparently available, we address the important need for consumers to understand the most important aspect of network performance relative to them, namely how it translates to their user experience.
